Gordon Ramsay's Boxwood Cafe
Took a mate there last night for his birthday and had a really enjoyable experience. Based on reviews on this site I steered clear of the suckling pig which I may usually have ordered and went for something recommended by the waitress. I started with a tasty Romero red pepper entree and he had a parma ham roast onion starter, neither were overly elaborate or particularly interesting but definitely quite delicious. For main I enjoyed a lamb and polenta dish. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the flavours had me moaning with delight. Meanwhile my mate couldn't push his baked maccaroni down fast enough. I would have to agree with a previous reviewer, the raspberry and vanilla cheesecake was one of the best I've had too. They caught wind of the fact it was his birthday and put a candle in his dessert which he got a kick out of. The waiting staff were very attentive and helpful while still quite down to earth. We started with a spirit each and moved on to a nice bottle of Rioja. It was $140 for the both of us, but we were happy. I'd definitely go back and be tempted to try another Gordon Ramsay restaurant based on this experience.
