Canteen (Spitalfields)

This is a dreadful restaurant. The staff are are very poorly trained and the food is terrible. It took 3 hours for my party of 6 people to get through our 1 course meal. We were sitting right next to the bar and it took 30mins for our drinks to arrive at the table each time we ordered them. The kitchen ‘lost’ our food check and the waiter on relaying the news said that it was his second day and really he didn’t ‘give a f*!$’. My only advice to you is to never ever visit this restaurant.

Having eaten here about 10 times since the opening week it's a shame to say that I have noticed the gradual decline in the standard of food. Service cannot be faulted and drinks are always good. However, the steak now seems to be of a much lower standard, greasy and tough. I recently had the salmon dish which was swimming in butter. Such a shame as I have recommended this restaurant to many friends who now, having been, wonder why I bothered.

It is a lovely bar to go to for a drink but I wouldn't bother going there for a meal.
