Gaucho (Richmond)

Was reasonably impressed by this restaurant despite some poor reviews here. The booking was dealt with very professionally and courteously by the receptionist and they even phoned 2 hrs prior to reconfirm our reservation. We were seated immediately upon arriving, and service was prompt and friendly - nice to have Latin American staff too.

Starter of Soft Shell Crab was lovely; Main of Sirloin was good - but I was expecting it to be a bit more special. My only negative comment would be that I find it a bit cheeky to charge 2.50GBP for an accompanying sauce, and 3.00GBP and up for any side orders such as chips, salad, veg. Surely when you're paying a fare whack for a main course, these items could be included free of charge. Dessert of Chocolate Truffle Cake was excellent, and the wine list is fantastic. All in all a lovely evening out, and beautiful setting overlooking the Thames - we were blessed with a warm summer's evening.

@foodepedia Pretty bright and sticky over here but not as wet as we thought. Enjoy the heatwave!
