Food ok, but in no way outstanding. Very expensive, considering the price charged.

They charge for rice refills. Even worse, the staff automatically added 13% service charge, which to me just seems greedy.

Roti Joupa

I'm not from Trindad and, to be frank, this was the first roti I'd ever had! But my goat roti tatsted absolutely delish. Worth a small diversion if you're nearby.

Service is remarkably quick and it's takeout only. Price for a meat roti is about a fiver.

Singapore Garden

I tried to eat a pre-theatre meal at Singapore Garden, without much success. The rather gruff lady at reception demanded I give up my table after 75 minutes, which I agreed to. At any rate, they managed to seat me, I gave my order for laksa, and everything seemed on-track.

A few minutes later, the waitress came back and told me that the minimum order was £15. As she was explaining, she kept shoving the fine-print of the menu in my face (and poking her thumb at the wording) just in case I didn't believe her or was too simple to understand.

I was pretty fed up with the rudeness at that point, so I walked out and went down the road to a much warmer welcome at Louis.

I won't bother coming back to Singapore Garden!
