Mint Leaf

Wow.. my bf took me here last night and I was really impressed!! it is certainly a sexy place to go to! The atmosphere was a perfect balance of ambience and intimacy with a hint of mystery! loved it.

the cocktails were great (try the porn star one), and food was scrumptious. We had the jumbo prawns, potatoe cakes, lentils, lamb curry (this was OK not worth £16) and various other little dishes! The chocolate fondant dessert was to die for!

on the whole very impressed and had a lovely evening! A bit on the pricey side but I think for the whole experience, it's worth it. Hopefully will be back v soon to check out the bar area and more of those delish cocktails!:)

The Ark

I was impressed on my first visit to The Ark so I was anxious to bring some friends to try it. The portions were generous so most of the party could only manage a main course for lunch.

Although the fish was especially fresh and tasty, the chips let the fish down! They seemed to be the kind out of the bag instead of from freshly cut potatoes, and secondly, they weren't cooked enough, so they weren't crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

For the price, I would expect perfect chips, as well as perfect fish.

The mushy peas are great and the staff are lovely.

I'd probably give it one more chance.

222 Veggie Vegan

My vegan friend from New York was visiting and I had the responsibility of finding us somewhere decent to dine!

In all honesty, I was simply dreading an experience that was not only vegetarian, but vegan!!

HOWEVER, i was SO pleasantly surprised and impressed by the standard and tastiness of all 3 courses and i had to eat some humble pie that night, as well as a banana and walnut cake to die for AND pancake with vanilla icecream and cholocate sauce -- all incredibly vegan-friendly!!

wow!! may even convert after this experience!! :)

ps; if you go, you must order the pasta with wild mushrooms and cashew cream -- it's on another level!!

Browns (Richmond)

Regarding the previous review, I thought it a little harsh in all fairness. I ate at Browns last night with a companion and it was a really nice atmosphere in there. The waitor was extremely helpful and friendly and the place was absolutely packed with people enjoying the dining experience.

I think the food is tasty and satisfying, although of course not comparable to le gavroche or mr. ramsey, but you get what you pay for!

I had the rump of lamb which was succulent and hit the spot, my friend had her regular favourite the guiness steak pie which also gained a thumbs up.

We shared a sticky toffee pudding which was just delightful and a brilliant sweet way to finish off the meal which was not rushed at all despite being busy.

So many people come back time and time again to Browns for the food, cocktails and excellent service - methinks that the previous reviewer may have been just a little bit fussy!

2 main courses, 1 dessert and 2 LARGE glasses of red wine for £35 - I don't think that's unfair by any standards!
