Great atmosphere - disappointing food.
Went to The Hill for a late lunch on New Year's Day and by the time we arrived 2 of the mains had run out and we could not get bread on the table as they were running low. Most of us had soup for starters which was pretty good. However, after apologising for problems in the kitchen, the mains eventually came out, but were not worth the wait. The scallop and prawn linguine was covered in an awful sauce and the vegetarian green curry was very average.
Maybe they just had problems with a busy New Years day service, but I am unlikely to return. Too bad really, as this place has a lot of potential...

Food 3 | Service 6 | Atmosphere 8 | Value for money 5
A truly wonderful night out. We arrived at the restaurant early without reservations to celebrate a special family occasion and the atmosphere, food and service was fantastic. Service was a bit quirky as throughout the meal, we had 5 different people wait on us, however they were all very helpful and friendly.
The atmosphere was very distinct and welcoming. The group I was with thought the music they were playing didn't quite fit (ambient electronica), but it wasn’t overbearing and I didn’t mind it.
We had a variety of starters and entrées that were all very good; my favorite though was the Shanghai Devil lamb dish (heavy on black pepper). At the end of the meal the wait staff even brought out complimentary sesame and green tea ice cream for us to share - a very nice touch.
At about 30 pounds a person, I thought this place made for a great night out in central London. I will definitely go back and would recommend it to others.
