Tapas Brindisa

Great food, relatively inexpensive - at least we paid a lot less than we expected and we don't think it was because of a mistake with the bill!

It was a crowded Friday evening yet the orders arrived quickly and, more important, they were first rate tapas.

Highly recommended!

Tsunami (Clapham)

The food was superb: well-presented and excellently cooked. The portions were, well, Japanese - generally small, even if very tasty. It's not the cheapest place in the world and if you're in need of a hearty meal, your wallet will take a pounding.

Disappointingly, the service was patchy and disinterested, the atmosphere cold and unwelcoming and I won't be hurrying back.

Andrew Edmunds

As others have said, you'd walk past if you didn't know it was there and the tables are, well, cramped ... but that doesn't matter. The atmosphere was light and buzzy. The service was relaxed and informal but yet still attentive and informed.

The food was interestingly varied, but there really was something for everyone. It's not the cheapest eats you'll pick up, even if this part of town, but it's definitely worth the ticket price and we'll be back!

The Goring Dining Room

The dining room is stunning, the food is well considered and a good example of what British means. I wonder if we just caught the staff on an off day. Mostly they were, individually, top notch, but as a corps they lacked fluidity. Maybe they were understaffed, but too often we felt ourselves left unattended. One of us wanted a glass of wine as an aperitif, but they wouldn't give us just a glass without selecting it - and then we were left without the wine menu until we asked for it again! Little things added up to more serious reservations - as frusting because they were close to getting it very right. Curiously, some fellow diners felt the need to wear their coats and scarves ...

Overally, it's a very good restaurant but not quite worth what the bill eventually came to.

Reasonable food but a strange atmosphere. It's one of those restaurants with a funky bar attached - complete with DJ who obviously had pretensions that his was at a late night club, not after work drinks.

The food was interesting and a cut away from the normal Indian meals that we're all used to. The service was attentive but lacked detail - we were asked about drinks several times, a part of the order was left out entirely and the bill had an extra drink added, which was resolved amicably, but summarised the experience.

It's in a competitive area, by the looks of the other reviews not everyone shared our take, so it needs to make sure that it can maintain itself in comparison to all the other places around it.

Le P'tit Normand

As a last minute, driving-by, choice, this was a great find. It's exactly the kind of restaurant you want to be around the corner from home - above average cooking, lowkey and friendly service, decent prices.

It's not going to win many prizes - it's straight out of the 1970s in terms of dining experience, but the food was solidly decent - and the cheese tray was simply stunning. A return visit is very definitely on the agenda.
