OXO Tower Restaurant
The views are outstanding - which is unfortunately the best thing about this restaurant. It isnt that this place is bad at all. Its just mediocre.
Food was decent but not great. The portions were far too small and concentrated purely on presentation as opposed to quality.
Wine List great. As good as I have seen in most places and the sommelier seemed to know their stuff.
Staff / Service they were good but far too many of them and too over-bearing. They seemed to be everywhere, which meant that you always had the feeling someone was looking over your shoulder. Hard to relax here. The table sitting next to us also mentioned this to us.
Prices expensive for what you get. You pay for the view.

Maggie Jones's
Love this restaurant. Possibly our favourite restaurant in London. As soon as we walk in - we feel relaxed. The rooms are warm and cosy - and no matter how busy this place gets - you always feel quite secluded due to the lighting, table sizes, and if lucky enough - the booths.
Service is very relaxed - but great. The prices dictate it would be a stuffy stuck up restaurant with over-bearing staff. It's the opposite. They are super efficient - are always on hand - but never noticeable or in the way.
Food is great - the best posh traditional pub grub you can get. Suggest the stuffed shoulder of pork. Outstanding. When venison is on the special board - order it - but suggest keep the sauce on the side (wasn't a big fan of it)
Wine - we always demolish a Magnum of the hosue red. You only pay for what you drink - but hey we see it as a challenge.
Desserts - again traditional and great. The portions and wine take up a lot of room - so suggest sharing.
Give it a go!
