El Gaucho (South Kensington)

This is a really great place.

It is the best Argentinian restaurant I have found in London, and the food far outstrips a certain Argentinian steak chain in London. It has a very intimate atmosphere for somewhere so central.

The service can be a little relaxed but hey, that's just the Argentinian way, right?

Try the empanadas.

Gaucho (City)

This place (and chain) is totally over packaged... but even though I hate chains I can't deny that the steak is excellent, decor is fab and the service pretty good considering how packed out it is most of the time.

Fino's Wine Cellar (Mount St)

Fino's is just brilliant. It looks like quite pub-like so initially my expectations were low. However the mostly Italian staff are really fun and friendly, and food really is fantastic. It simple Italian, but everything is super fresh and cooked perfectly.

I really recommend eating here (particularly the calves liver with sage)

Auberge (St Christopher's Place)

This is genuinely one of the worst restaurants I've eaten at in London. The service was amazingly slow, almost an art form. The food was genuinely unpleasant to eat, I am super greedy and I just lost my appetite. I know that in this location they are just looking to make money off the tourists, but please, there are limits!

Suze in Mayfair

I have eaten at Suze several times. I really recommend it. Considering its location just off Oxford Street it manages to seem quite intimate. Food is always super fresh and just quirky enough fusion-wise without being weird. Good wine list. Attentive service also, unusual for London!

Zuma

I expected this place to be totally overrated when my husband took me there for dinner.

Infact the food is amazing, and the atmosphere and service were great also. It is not particularly cheap but hey, its worth it.
