I went to Bintang last night on the basis of the good reviews I'd read here.
In summary, the food was fine, but the service was shocking. We arrived and were told they didn't have our reservation, until I pointed it out in their book. We were directed to the garden, and left to find a table ourselves.
We were then ignored for 15 minutes, until finally I got up and borrowed menus from another table.
Requests for cutlery had to be repeated. We were asked if we wanted our starter and main course at the same time. Er, no.
When we paid, my friend who was visiting from the US was told she couldn't pay with her credit card, because they can only do chip & pin. This is rubbish. Is the UK no longer able to accept payment from tourists, who obviously have foreign credit cards? I think not.
A nearby table was heard complaining that they had been there for 2 hours and not had any food. In fact, we heard complaints from tables all around us.
It was a shambles, which was a shame because the setting is nice, and the food was good, but not good enough to make up for the Fawlty Towers experience.
