My wife and I had the pleasure of the £75 tasting menu a while ago, which was without a doubt our favourite meal in London ever.
As we were in the area for a gig lat night and fancied something to eat beforehand we stopped by to see if they had a table and got an outside one, great for watching the world go by on a Summer evening.
We ordered edamame and drinks and a few dishes from various parts of the menu to share. Roka is not a cheap restaurant by any means, but you do get what you pay for. Everything is of impeccable quality and there ARE relative bargains to be had, particularly from the grill section. The barbecued tofu, beef with asparagus skewers, pork dumplings and prawn tempura were all delicious and a decent size for sharing. Edamame portions are pretty big too as we didn't finish the bowl.
We'd quite happily go back for a beer and a few skewers anytime.
Our only complaint, which we noticed when we had the tasting menu too, is the speed at which they bring the dishes out, too fast for us. We appreciate that several things may come out at once, given the nature of the food, but a little breathing space between some things to savour everything would be welcome. It's almost as if the kitchen is too efficient for it's own good.
There's never any hurry to get you off the table though, so that doesn't seem to be the reason for the rush. As on our first visit, the service was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Roka is definitely one of our favourite restaurants.

The service was very professional, relaxed but attentive, the food was nice enough, but it's really, really, not worth the mark-up. The dishes are too basic, most of it's the kind of stuff you could get pretty close to at home (though not with quite as much panache.) The best part of £20 for some rice and shrimps? Maybe on expenses... or buy the book and do it yourself.
