La Petite Maison

Hurrah for La Petite Maison! The food is great, the rose goes down a treat and the customer base is orange.

To moan about the prices here (in Mayfair? with this clientele? as an offshoot of a Nicois establishment classic?) is hugely vulgar. Shame on you.

Hibiscus

The food and service was exquisite. The somellier's suggestion of wines was perfect. Price was what it was - you don't go to a two star michelin place and moan about cost. Was still a bit underwhelmed though which I think was down to the room - it's an uninteresting box and it kills any sort of atmosphere.

Polpo Covent Garden

This branch isn't as trendy as the original Polpo and it's certainly easier to get into at this point in its existence. Food is really tasty with no duds at all. Wasn't too bothered about the notorious wine tumblers at all as the list is suitably unpretentious.

Very much one for settling in with a group of mates or the family and getting through a few bottles. To pose or impress the other half I'd stick with Polpo.

Also it's almost comically cheap for Covent Garden. Happy days :D

Bar Italia

If it's 4am on a Saturday or Sunday morning and you're a bit tipsy, or indeed absolutely hammered, there's no better place in the world.

Massive and fab chicken sandwiches, a stream of interesting nutters wandering about and all the US fights live on the big screen (including PPV).

Sure it's ludicrously pricey, but if you don't like it hop on the nightbus back to your sad life in Clapham or wherever...

Moo Grill

Loved this place. There's no messing about with the menu - a huge steak sandwich with ham, egg, salad, chimmichurri, chips and some empanadas. Really friendly service, decent Argentinian wine, moody pics of BA... Pefect!
