Plum Valley

We had dinner for 7 a few nights ago. Friendly and efficient service in a chic but rather souless Chinese restaurant. Decent quality food, OK wine list but, in my view, definitely over-priced at £80 per head.

Benares

Top quality contemporary Indian restaurant with prices to match. The food was excellent though service was patchy. Dinner for 4 people with two bottles of wine was £92 per head.

Exotikka of India

A an absolute little gem of an Indian restaurant tucked away in the back streets of Chelsea. Forget the expensive Indian restaurants - if you want great food and great service then is the place.

Hakkasan

The most outstanding Chinese food I have ever eaten, really superb. Very efficient service too. Expensive though at £100 per head.

Michael Moore

A gem of a restaurant and by far the most interesting in the Blandford Street area. The cuisine is superb - main course of scallops in gooseberry sauce was outstanding. The service is prompt and attentive. The tables are a little cramped though - better dining for two rather than four.

Harbour City

Good value Chinese restaurant in the heart of Soho. Had lunch there and was treated to good quality cuisine with prompt and friendly service. We were virtually the only non-Chinese diners - which speaks volumes. Recommended.

La Trompette

La Trompette is the best in the West. I had lunch there yesterday with business clients and was treated to superb cuisine and service. My starter of steamed plaice was outstanding, and main course of ravioli was a very high standard. Priced at £40 per head, this is the best restaurant in west London for a high end dining experience.

Angela Hartnett at The Connaught

This is certainly one of London's premier restaurants. We had dinner for four people and the meal and service was outstanding. Pricey, yes, but worth every penny. The atmosphere is fantastic - one of the capital's few grand dining experiences to rival Paris.

Butlers Wharf Chop House

Pre-lunch anticipation was not matched by the food, unfortunately. Saddle of lamb turned out to be stringy lamb chops. The decor is great though it was pretty chilly on a cold January day. Service is attentive. Worth a second visit but will need a substantially improved dining experience to make it a third.

Ditto Bar and Restaurant

Good quality neighbourhood restaurant in Wandsworth, ideal for Sunday lunches with the family. Relaxed atmosphere, attentive service, good food and reasonably priced. The wine list also merits praise.
